Person A
I think working from home is the future. I love not having to commute which is
not only good for the environment, but also saves time. I don’t need to wait for
the bus or take the car. I can spend that extra free time with my family and
friends. This gets me in a better mood to commit to my job and enjoy doing it. I
like having the chance to choose how to spend my free time and with whom.
Person B
I hate working from home. I’m all alone with no-one to talk to, I’m interrupted
by endless phone calls while I’m having lunch, or dinner, sometimes. When I
need clarification or to get feedback to move on with some task, I don’t
necessarily get a good connection or understand what I’m told on online
meetings. It’s hard to have team meetings as everybody talks at the same time
and it’s hard to follow what’s being discussed. It ends up being 24 hours job
because you don’t get things done right from the start and you have to wait for
others to get connected.
Person C
What is hard is to be disciplined. Working from home means you are actually at
home, where there’s TV, a book you’re reading, music, YouTube, and no boss
or team watching over your head telling you to keep up. So, if you’re not
disciplined like me, you may not get the work done right and on time. However,
once you finally get started, it’s nice to work from home, where you can create
your own environment, organise things as you like, and there’s no talks as to
who got the best office and who the worst. There’s less office gossip going
around in general, and that’s good.
Person D
Being able to decide when to do what is great. I have my tasks, and I can get
organised the way I want to. There’re no interruptions, no people coming to you
with questions or requests all the time, which makes it very hard for me to
concentrate and focus on what I’m doing. You can always get connected on
Skype, Teams, Zoom, and others and have meetings without the need to be there
constantly interrupted when you need to focus on something. The connection is
sometimes not so good, but all in all, I get more work done now than when I
worked in the office.
