Reading practice test 3.2

Four people were asked about their opinions of the town’s sports centre. Read the texts and answer Questions 1-7.

The Town Park

Person A
‘I usually visit the park early in the morning before work because it’s quiet and peaceful
at that time. I enjoy walking my dog there, and most days the park is clean and pleasant.
However, I’ve noticed that there aren’t enough rubbish bins, especially near the
benches. As a result, some visitors leave litter behind, which spoils the atmosphere. I
think the council should install more bins and empty them more regularly.’

Person B
‘The park is a lovely place, particularly in spring when the flowers are in bloom. I often
go there with my grandmother, who finds it difficult to walk long distances.
Unfortunately, there are not enough benches for people to sit and rest. Older visitors
especially need more places to sit down. Apart from that, I believe the park is well
maintained and safe.’

Person C
‘My children love going to the playground in the park after school. The equipment is
quite modern and safe, which is important for parents. However, the playground area is
too small and becomes very crowded in the afternoons and at weekends. I think they
should expand it and perhaps add more swings and climbing frames so that children
have more space to play.’

Person D
‘I think the park is an important space for the community. During the day, it feels safe
and welcoming. However, in the evenings it can be quite dark, particularly near the
lake. There aren’t enough lights, and this makes some people feel uncomfortable.
Installing better lighting would improve safety and encourage more people to visit the
park after sunset.’
